Why Anthony Leal and IU Basketball Could Be the Right Fit

You can point to the fact Anthony Leal’s good friend Trey Galloway’s commitment helps IU’s chances of landing the 4-star from Bloomington South. In my opinion, I think it definitely doesn’t hurt the Hoosiers’ chances of getting a commit from the young and talented guard. But, if he does commit, it will be because it was his decision and his alone even after weighing all of the pros and cons. The more important question you should be asking yourself is why he could be the right fit for IU basketball?

The kid is Indiana through and through. Not saying that just because he grew up in the Hoosier state makes him better than an out-of-state talent. But, it does help him understand how much basketball means across the state and in most of our communities. When you have a piece of your program that knows how important and meaningful basketball is to the fans, you can begin to surround that talent with more pieces that buy into that same mindset. Recently on a Hoosier Hysterics podcast episode, Eric and Ward mentioned AJ Moye talking about how Bob Knight was able to fit teams together much like parts to an automobile. Each part serves it’s purpose. Without them, you cannot run efficiently. I think of that when I think of Leal. He is a building block and important component to the program’s future success. I considered the addition of Trey Galloway as one of those vital program sustaining parts. Gaining Anthony Leal will only strengthen the foundation of the program even more so.
