Indiana Men’s Basketball: Potential Lineups
Written By: Brian Tonsoni (@soni42 @SportsTons)
Selecting a lineup is one of the tasks that a coach has to do each game.
Who should start?
What is the rotation of the guys on the bench?
Do we play to our strength or match-up against the opponent?
All good questions that go into a lineup.
Other considerations include what offense a coach decides to run, the skill of the players under consideration and where to best deploy each player on the roster. Coach Miller will be evaluating his Indiana Hoosiers for the next few weeks to determine the lineup for the first exhibition game vs Gannon. Prior to that game, the Hoosiers will have a secret scrimmage against Marquette.
Will the Hoosiers go big or small? What will each of those options look like. Hoosier Hysteria is not really the event to make solid evaluations but in looking back over the short scrimmage there may have been a few hints.
What the Hoosiers Have to Work With
Guards - traditional “1” and “2” spots: Phinisee, Green , Durham, Franklin, Anderson
Wings- “3: Smith, Hunter, Anderson, Durham, Franklin
Power Forward- “4” Jackson-Davis, Smith, Hunter, Thompson
Posts- “5” Davis, Brunk, Jackson- Davis, Thompson

I like this lineup for the offensive potential. Smith and Davis off the bench provide solid defense and some scoring. Durham would probably spell both Phinisee and Green in a 3-guard rotation.
Other lineup considerations would include how Indiana would like to attack the second unit of the opponent. May have some offensive personnel on bench to start. Hunter and Davis off the bench bring a lot of offense. Maybe the bench will be used to provide a spark defensively. These options will be determined as the season progresses
